When teaching Theology of the Reformation (in French), I was struck by how difficult it is to get primary sources in French.
My next project is a proof of concept exercise. If this works, I will go on publishing old books as I am able and as I receive support.
I want to try republishing a 16th century work by Guillaume Farel, making it available in print and ebook.
A couple years back I used OCR software to capture the text from the scan of a 19th century copy of Farel’s Le sommaire.
I recently prepared a Python script to leverage the power of articifial intelligence to update the language and correct errors introduced during the OCR.
Soon I will be doing the arduous work of editing the document and checking the AI output against the original.
